Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has announced that it will begin sending official tax-related messages to citizens through WhatsApp, expanding its digital communication channels to improve taxpayer outreach and compliance.
According to an announcement posted on the FBR’s official website on Monday, taxpayers will receive messages from the board’s verified WhatsApp account — +92 326 8336425 — regarding income tax return filing and other official matters.
The FBR said the initiative aims to enhance transparency and convenience by directly engaging taxpayers through a widely used platform. In addition to WhatsApp, the tax authority continues to send SMS alerts to individuals involved in property transactions and other taxable activities.

Officials said the FBR has integrated third-party data from multiple external sources to identify taxable transactions and improve monitoring. “Taxpayers are being informed through messages and alerts to ensure timely compliance,” an FBR representative noted.
Recent messages sent by the authority congratulate taxpayers on property purchases while reminding them to file their income tax returns and declare assets in their wealth statements.
The FBR advised taxpayers to verify the authenticity of messages by checking the official number and to remain alert to potential scams. The move is part of the board’s broader strategy to digitize tax administration and strengthen documentation of the economy.
