Faisalabad: The Faisalabad Development Authority (FDA) has approved the implementation of reforms under the Punjab Development Authorities Private Housing Schemes Rules 2021, aimed at streamlining approvals, regularising unauthorised schemes, and enhancing transparency in the housing sector.
The decision was taken during a meeting chaired by Commissioner Raja Jahangir Anwar and attended by senior FDA officials, including Director General Muhammad Asif Chaudhry and Additional Director General Qaiser Abbas Randhawa.

The reforms, previously endorsed by the Punjab Cabinet, introduce a digital approval system for new housing schemes, standardising no-objection certificates from relevant departments, and establishing a robust monitoring and enforcement framework. They also provide for the regulation of advertisements, release of mortgaged plots, and the introduction of affordable housing schemes for low-income groups.
FDA officials highlighted that the reforms are designed to strengthen the legal framework for private housing schemes, ensure transparency, and address issues related to illegal developments. The authority also approved deliberations on a proposal to sell 284 residential plots in FDA City to Fesco under revised procedures.
The implementation of these reforms is expected to improve regulatory oversight, promote accountability in the housing sector, and protect the interests of homebuyers and developers alike.
