Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has approved over PKR 83 billion in new development projects, including a high-end “Capital House” in F-5, a world-class convention and exhibition centre, and a luxury seven-/five-star hotel.
During its 78th Development Working Party (DWP) meeting, chaired by CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, the authority greenlit the PC I plans for multiple flagship developments.
Among the approved projects:
- A Capital House in F-5, estimated to cost Rs 3.2 billion, intended to consolidate fragmented government accommodations.
- The New Islamabad Convention, Expo and Exhibition Centre (NICEEC), with a budget of Rs 19.371 billion, to host national and international conferences, exhibitions, and other major events.
- A seven-/five-star hotel in the Red Zone (Sector F-5) on an EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) basis, costing Rs 57.7 billion, aimed at attracting international guests, diplomats, and business travellers.
The convention centre is set to be completed in 18 months, according to the approved PC-I, and is being positioned as a long-term revenue generator for the CDA through event hosting and tourism.
Besides these mega projects, the DWP also approved:
- Government officers’ residences worth Rs 3 billion, to be built as 14-floor residential blocks.
- Upgrades to the Diplomatic Enclave, budgeted at Rs 635 million, with a six-month timeline.
- Six pedestrian bridges across major roads, costing Rs 574.682 million, with completion expected in 18 months.
Chairman Randhawa emphasized timely execution and high-quality standards, calling the approved projects “significant for Islamabad’s future growth” and urging that they be completed without compromise.
