Karachi: The much anticipated introduction of new currency notes in Pakistan is approaching
its final stages. The State Bank of Pakistan is ready to move forward pending approval from the
federal government.
Sources say preparations have been completed by the Security Printing Corporation. It has
developed the new currency notes with modern and effective security features. However, the
final designs of the new notes have not yet been approved by the federal government. This has
delayed the official rollout.
Amir Shams, Senior Manager of Printing at the Security Printing Corporation, confirmed that
consultations have taken place between the State Bank and the corporation regarding the printing
process. He stated that once the designs are finalized, it will take approximately two months to
print the new currency notes. The necessary modern machinery is already in place for
production.
