Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) has submitted a request to the Punjab Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) seeking to increase the budget for the Nullah Leh project feasibility study from Rs 40 million to Rs 200 million.
Officials said the initial Rs 40 million allocation failed to attract any companies during the tendering process, as firms deemed the amount insufficient for a project of this scale. The proposed increase aims to ensure that qualified firms participate and produce a comprehensive feasibility report.

The RDA Director General highlighted the strategic importance of the Nullah Leh project, noting that it is a multi-purpose initiative designed to address sewerage transfer, flood control through an open channel, and the creation of an alternative traffic route for the city.
If approved, the revised budget will allow for a detailed study covering technical, environmental, and traffic management aspects, which are crucial for the effective planning and implementation of the project.
Officials said the PDWP’s approval will be a key step toward ensuring that the project meets urban infrastructure and flood management needs in Rawalpindi, while also improving the city’s overall drainage and traffic systems.
