Lahore: Punjab’s iconic Horse and Cattle Show is set to return this year, running from March 28 to April 18 across multiple venues in Lahore, including Fortress Stadium and Jilani Park. Organised by the Punjab government, the annual festival blends cultural displays, equestrian sports, traditional games, and entertainment, attracting families, tourists, and enthusiasts from across the country.
The opening ceremony at Fortress Stadium on March 28 will mark the start of a 22-day programme featuring parades, music, food, heritage exhibitions, and cultural performances that highlight Punjab’s rich rural traditions. Grand float parades from March 28 to April 11 will showcase vibrant tableaux celebrating local culture and rural life.
Equestrian events remain central to the festival. The Lahore Polo Club will host an international polo match on April 1, alongside Arab horse dressage and tent pegging competitions. Livestock exhibitions will display prized cattle and horses from across Pakistan, reflecting the country’s agricultural heritage and the importance of animal breeding in Punjab’s rural economy. Farmers, breeders, and livestock experts will compete in showcasing the quality and diversity of cattle breeds.

The festival also features sporting and recreational activities. Traditional games, kabaddi matches, and a cycle race will take place at Jilani Park, while motor enthusiasts can enjoy a vintage car and motorcycle show at the Lahore Polo Club on March 29. Families and children can attend a circus at Jilani Park from March 31 to April 11, and from April 10 to 12, the park will host a food and music festival alongside a fashion showcase.
Cultural expression is further highlighted through a Sufi festival at Hazuri Bagh on April 12, offering visitors a mix of spiritual and artistic experiences. The closing ceremony on April 18 will bring together the festival’s highlights, concluding the event and reaffirming its reputation as one of Lahore’s most celebrated cultural gatherings.
Officials said the show aims to provide entertainment while promoting Punjab’s rural heritage, supporting local breeders, and showcasing the province’s diverse cultural traditions. The festival is expected to attract millions of visitors over its 22-day run, combining modern entertainment with age-old traditions.
