Ashiana Housing Scheme has made it possible for thousands of homeless people in Punjab to own a decent accommodation in clean, maintained and facilitated neighbourhood. In Budget 2013-14, the Federal Government of Pakistan announced that 1000 more Ashiana Housing Societies will be built throughout the country. For this purpose, the government has reserved an amount of Rs. 3.5 billion. According to details made public by the Treasure Minister Ishaq Dar, each one of these 1000 housing societies will contain 500 Ashiana homes for the needy people.
In Punjab, the residents of several districts, including Faisalabad, Jehlum, Sahiwal and Sargodha have claimed their property in Ashiana. To apply for Ashiana house, the government has set certain conditions; the applicant has a monthly income of Rs. 20,000 or less and he doesn’t own any property. To apply for Ashiana house in Punjab, the applicant can get free application form from any branch of Bank of Punjab in his/her respective city. This form can also be downloaded from the official website of Punjab Land Development Company (PLDC).
The concerned authorities in other provinces of Pakistan are preparing the feasibility reports for Ashiana projects in their respective domains. It is expected that Federal Government of Pakistan will be able to make a progress with countrywide expansion of Ashiana Housing Scheme by the end of 2013. The government will also offer monetary assistance to those who apply for mortgage to make payments for Ashiana House. An additional discount of 5% will be offered to those who choose to make the entire payment in one transaction. More details will be available as soon as the Government announces a new Ashiana project.
