Islamabad: The Interior Ministry has accelerated plans to construct a state-of-the-art cricket stadium in Islamabad, aiming to host international teams and ease match-day traffic congestion in the capital.
The stadium will be built in the D-12 sector, with the Capital Development Authority (CDA) tasked to complete the project within one year. Officials said the facility will be modeled after world-class stadiums in Dubai, incorporating advanced security systems, modern transportation access, and extensive parking facilities.

A luxury hotel is also planned adjacent to the stadium to provide accommodation for international teams, minimizing travel time and enhancing convenience for players and officials.
The move addresses longstanding concerns over traffic disruptions during major cricket matches in Islamabad, particularly those requiring heightened security measures. By shifting the stadium away from the city center, authorities expect a significant reduction in congestion.
Officials noted that the project represents a major step forward for Pakistan’s cricket infrastructure, positioning Islamabad to host high-profile international matches and events in the coming years.
