Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to involve citizens directly in the formulation of its Annual Development Programme (ADP) for the fiscal year 2026-27, in a move aimed at improving transparency, inclusiveness, and participatory governance.
According to Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information and Public Relations Shafi Jan, the development planning process has reached its final stages in line with the vision of Imran Khan and under the directives of Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.
Shafi Jan said the provincial government has introduced a mechanism to ensure public participation in shaping development priorities. “To make the development planning process more transparent, inclusive, and people-centric, the provincial government has decided to involve the public,” he stated.

Under the initiative, a dedicated online link will be shared through the social media platforms of all Deputy Commissioners across the province. Citizens will be able to submit suggestions, feedback, and concerns related to development priorities across various sectors.
The consultation portal will remain open from May 4 to May 8, allowing a five-day window for public input. Officials said that feasible and relevant proposals received during this period will be considered for incorporation into the ADP 2026-27.
Authorities added that the initiative is aimed at aligning development projects with public needs and improving service delivery at the grassroots level.
Shafi Jan further said the move reflects the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability, adding that citizen participation will help enhance the quality and effectiveness of development planning in the province.
