Islamabad: Pakistan will share a list of 250 leading business houses with Egypt as part of a new initiative to strengthen bilateral trade and commercial cooperation, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said on Sunday.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdelatty, Dar said both sides held “very focused” discussions aimed at improving business-to-business engagement. Current trade between the two countries stands at around USD 300 million.
Dar said the list of 250 top Pakistani business houses will be compiled through a transparent selection process led by the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), in consultation with other chambers. These companies represent key sectors of the economy and will be supported to explore new commercial opportunities in Egypt.

He added that once the list is shared, Egypt will designate these 250 firms as a “white list,” helping fast-track business visas and addressing frequent complaints about long processing times.
Dar also announced that a second batch of 250 companies will be identified within six months, expanding the list to 500 firms. Following this, Pakistan and Egypt will establish a new Pakistan-Egypt Business Council to institutionalise private sector partnerships and promote deeper B2B collaboration.
The council—co-chaired by the two foreign ministers—will hold its first meeting in Cairo in the second quarter of 2026 to advance trade, investment, and economic cooperation between the two countries.
