Quetta: The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) on Tuesday approved the Balochistan Water Resources Development Sector Project along with several key infrastructure schemes aimed at improving connectivity across the province.
The approvals were granted during a meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar via video link.
Officials said the sanctioned projects include revised plans for the Ziarat Mor–Kach–Harnai road, spanning 109.882 kilometres, and the 55.834-kilometre Harnai–Sanjavi road. Ecnec also cleared a 110-kilometre road project connecting the Chedegai border crossing on the Iran-Pakistan frontier to Panjgur.

The committee noted that modernising Balochistan’s road network would not only facilitate regional trade, particularly with neighbouring countries, but also improve travel conditions for local communities.
Ecnec stressed the importance of completing all approved projects on time while maintaining high construction standards.
Those present at the meeting included Balochistan’s Provincial Irrigation Minister Mir Muhammad Sadiq Umrani, Additional Chief Secretary (Development) Zahid Saleem, Chief Engineer Design (C&W) Dr Sajjad Baloch, Chief of Section (P&D) Inamullah Khan, Project Director BWRDSP Sufyan Durrani and Chief Foreign Aid (P&D) Batool Asadi.
