Islamabad: The Shaheen Chowk underpass in Islamabad has been opened for traffic as part of the Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) ongoing development initiatives, marking the completion of 18 projects in 2025, including five major road projects.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi attended the opening on Wednesday, the last day of the year, and praised the efforts of the CDA, contractors, and interior ministry officials in completing the project. He noted that the formal inauguration of the underpass will be carried out by the prime minister, but it was opened early as part of New Year celebrations.
Among the notable projects completed in 2025 were the Serena Interchange, Murree Road underpass, F-8 Interchange, T Chowk flyover, Shaheen Chowk underpass, Park Road upgrades, and the Business Facilitation Centre.

Looking ahead, the minister said that Islamabad will see a significant increase in development projects in 2026. He highlighted the upcoming Vision 2027 programme, a two-year development plan that will focus on enhancing greenery, overhauling parks, and completing ongoing projects, including work on the city’s jail project.
State Minister for Interior Talal Chaudhry and senior CDA officials were also present at the event, which marked a milestone in the city’s infrastructure development efforts.
