Murree: The snowfall season in Murree has officially begun, with authorities activating comprehensive safety and traffic management measures to ensure smooth travel and tourist safety.
A total of 19 facilitation centres have been made operational along GT Road, motorway routes, and roads connecting Azad Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Murree. These centres will operate 24/7 throughout the season, staffed by officers from relevant departments in rotational shifts.
The traffic police and civil defence volunteer strength has been increased, with vehicle monitoring in place at all toll plazas leading to the hill station. The Meteorological Department will issue snowfall updates every ten hours.

To manage snow clearance, 26 snow-removal vehicles equipped with salts and chemicals have been deployed, each operated by three personnel around the clock. Roadside parking during snowfall has been banned, and violators’ vehicles will be impounded.
Security arrangements have also been strengthened at key tourist spots, including Mall Road, Pindi Point, Kashmir Point, and GPO Chowk, with women police officers deployed to maintain order. Additionally, a baton-carrying force of local youth has been formed to prevent fights and scuffles.
With winter vacations starting this week, authorities anticipate a significant influx of tourists from across the country, particularly from Friday, December 19. Officials urge visitors to follow safety guidelines and cooperate with law enforcement for a safe and enjoyable trip.
