Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has completed the Project Concept-I (PC-1) for a new expressway that will connect Arfa Karim Tower to Pine Avenue, Raiwind — a major initiative aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving connectivity in South Lahore.
According to LDA Chief Engineer Israr Saeed, the PC-1 has been finalized and the authority has requested a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to move forward with the project. The estimated cost of the expressway exceeds PKR 9 billion.
Designed as a modern and environmentally friendly corridor, the project will feature a three-lane dual carriageway similar in design to the Lahore Orange Line (LOS) project. In the first phase, the expressway will cover the stretch from Arfa Karim Tower to Maulana Shaukat Ali Road.

A topographic survey has already been conducted from Arfa Karim Tower to Pine Avenue, with planning focused on minimizing environmental impact and ensuring smoother traffic flow. Once completed, the new route will provide a vital alternative to the Kalma Chowk corridor, significantly reducing travel time and congestion for commuters heading toward South Lahore.
Officials said the PC-1 will now be submitted to the Planning and Development Department for approval. After the necessary clearances, construction is expected to begin in phases, with the project anticipated to benefit millions of daily commuters.
