Lahore: The Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) has approved a set of development projects worth PKR 15,765.207 million in the roads, wildlife, and tourism sectors during its 20th meeting of the current fiscal year, held on Monday.
The meeting, chaired by Dr. Naeem Rauf, Chairman of the Planning & Development (P&D) Board Punjab, approved several key schemes, including the “Strengthening and Capacity Building of the Wildlife Department for the Conservation of Wildlife in Punjab” at a revised cost of PKR 3,631.564 million. Also cleared was the “Revamping and Experience Development of Bahawalpur Zoo”, estimated at PKR 3,479.820 million.
In the infrastructure sector, the PDWP sanctioned the construction of an additional Ring Road from Bahawalpur Railway Station to Bino Hospital at a cost of PKR 1,628.492 million, and the rehabilitation of the Sahiwal–Pakpattan road, estimated at PKR 4,518.906 million. The rehabilitation of Sammundri–Sahiwal Road (Revised) was also approved with an allocation of PKR 2,456.425 million.

For tourism development, the committee approved a feasibility study worth PKR 50 million for the installation of a chairlift and cable car from Lakot to Pindi Point in Murree.
Dr. Rauf stated that these initiatives will improve road connectivity across Punjab, strengthen wildlife conservation efforts, and promote eco-tourism. He added that the projects reflect the government’s commitment to sustainable development, better mobility, and preservation of the province’s natural heritage.
The meeting was also attended by P&D Board Secretary Rafaqat Ali, Chief Economist Masood Anwar, and other senior officials.
