The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) and the Capital Development Authority (CDA) have joined forces to enhance engineering standards in major development projects. This collaboration includes launching a Project Director (PD) Certification and training young engineers through the Graduate Engineers Trainee (GET) Placement Program.
The agreement was finalized during a meeting between PEC Chairman Engineer Waseem Nazir and CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, focusing on improving transparency, quality, and efficiency in large-scale infrastructure projects.
Under the partnership, both organizations will work to strengthen engineering practices in ongoing and upcoming mega projects. The initiatives will emphasize adherence to professional standards, effective project management, accountability, and quality assurance throughout each project.

PEC will soon launch the Project Director (PD) Certification Program, with the first batch set to begin in March. Engineers working on CDA’s mega projects will undergo this certification to ensure projects meet international standards, improving transparency, governance, and construction quality.
The meeting also highlighted efforts to create employment and capacity-building opportunities for young engineers. Through the CDA Graduate Engineers Trainee (GET) Placement Program, 100 graduate engineers will receive hands-on training and practical exposure by participating in CDA’s major projects. This program aims to equip fresh graduates with real-world experience in large-scale development works.
PEC Chairman Engineer Waseem Nazir emphasized that providing practical experience to young engineers is vital for the successful completion of mega projects. CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa described the PD certification and training initiatives as important steps, noting that PEC’s support will enhance the quality of engineering projects. CDA Member Engineering Engineer Nafisat Raza and other senior officials were also present at the meeting.
