Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a weather alert forecasting dust storms, gusty winds, rain and thunderstorms across large parts of the country from June 11 to 13.
According to the PMD, a westerly weather system is expected to enter the upper parts of the country on June 11 and is likely to persist until June 13. During the same period, moist currents from the Arabian Sea are also expected to affect upper and central regions.
The Met Office said intermittent dust storms, strong winds and rain-thundershowers are likely in Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan. Isolated heavy downpours and hailstorms may also occur in some areas.

Rain and thunderstorms are also expected in northeastern Balochistan, while upper Sindh is likely to experience dust storms and strong winds during the forecast period.
The PMD warned that severe winds, lightning and hailstorms could damage vulnerable structures, including solar panels, electricity poles and billboards.
It further cautioned that heavy rainfall may trigger urban flooding in low-lying areas of major cities including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, Gujranwala, Sialkot and Faisalabad. It also warned of possible landslides in mountainous regions of Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The department advised farmers to take precautionary measures to protect crops and urged citizens, tourists and travellers to avoid unnecessary movement during the forecast period.
