Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast a nationwide spell of rain, windstorms and thunderstorms through April 9 as a fresh western disturbance moves into the country.
According to the Met Office, the system entered parts of Balochistan on April 5 and is expected to extend to upper regions in the coming days, affecting most provinces with intermittent rainfall.
Rain-thunderstorms, with isolated heavy falls and hail, are expected in major urban centres including Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, along with large parts of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Snowfall is also likely in northern mountainous areas.

The PMD has warned of possible flash floods in parts of Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir, particularly between April 6 and 8. Urban flooding is also likely in low-lying areas of cities such as Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala and Sialkot.
Landslides may occur in vulnerable hilly regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during the period.
Strong winds, hailstorms and lightning pose risks to weak infrastructure, including electric poles, billboards and solar panels, while standing crops may also be affected in parts of Punjab, Sindh and KP.
Authorities have advised caution, urging travellers to avoid unnecessary movement and farmers to take protective measures. Daytime temperatures are expected to drop during the ongoing weather spell.
