Rawalpindi: A meeting on land use planning and zoning along the Rawalpindi Ring Road was held at the Rawalpindi Development Authority on Wednesday, focusing on coordinated development, land acquisition priorities, and sector-wise planning along the corridor.
The meeting was convened under the directions of Commissioner Rawalpindi Engineer Amir Khattak and Director General RDA, while it was chaired by Additional DG RDA Masood Ahmad Bukhari.
It was attended by the chief planner of RDA, representatives of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the deputy director Local Government, and the CEO Health Rawalpindi.
According to an RDA press release, the forum was briefed through a detailed presentation on decisions taken in the previous meeting held on May 15, 2026. The presentation reviewed priority areas identified for land acquisition across different blocks along the Rawalpindi Ring Road corridor and discussed departmental roles for effective implementation of the proposed land use plan.
Stakeholders also reviewed zoning proposals, with RCCI representatives stressing the need to allocate properly planned commercial and industrial zones along the route to support business activity and investment.

Officials informed the meeting that adequate commercial and industrial areas have already been incorporated into the proposed plan to support economic growth, sustainable development, and improved regional connectivity.
Participants from the health and local government departments appreciated the planning exercise and the efforts made by RDA in preparing the framework, reaffirming their support for its implementation.
It was further informed that the proposed plan will be shared with the relevant tehsil councils to incorporate their feedback and recommendations, ensuring a consultative and inclusive planning process.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks, with participants reiterating their commitment to inter-departmental coordination and sustainable development along the Rawalpindi Ring Road corridor.
