Rawalpind: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has directed the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) to develop an online portal that will allow citizens to verify the legal status of housing schemes and individual plots before making investments.
The decision was made during a meeting held at the NAB Rawalpindi/Islamabad Conference Room, chaired by NAB Rawalpindi Director General Waqar Ahmad Chohan. The session focused on enhancing transparency in the real estate sector and safeguarding the public from fraudulent and unapproved housing projects.
According to officials, the upcoming digital platform will enable users to check whether a housing scheme is approved, under process, or illegal, providing easy access to verified information on both public and private developments.

DG NAB Waqar Ahmad Chohan emphasised that the initiative is aimed at ensuring transparency and protecting citizens from scams. He instructed officials of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and RDA to share their housing project data so it can be integrated into the new system.
He further announced that a follow-up session will be held next week to finalise the technical and operational framework of the portal.
The move is part of NAB’s broader efforts to promote transparency, accountability, and responsible urban growth, amid rising concerns over the proliferation of illegal and unregulated housing schemes in Rawalpindi and other major cities.
