Islamabad: Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has invited the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) to invest in Pakistan’s major motorway and infrastructure projects, highlighting the country’s expanding transport and logistics network as an attractive investment avenue.
The proposal was made during a meeting between Aleem Khan and Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistic Services Engineer Saleh bin Nasser Aljasser on the sidelines of the Pakistan International Maritime Expo and Conference (PIMEC 2025) in Karachi, according to an official statement.
The minister emphasized that Pakistan’s road infrastructure is self-sustaining and revenue-generating, supported by an efficient toll system that funds ongoing maintenance and development. He said that new motorway projects are being developed to connect the country’s northern regions with major urban and economic centers, which will enhance regional trade and connectivity.

Aleem Khan specifically invited Saudi investment in several strategic projects, including the M-6 Motorway (Sukkur–Hyderabad), M-10 Motorway (Hyderabad–Karachi Port), M-13 Motorway (Kharian–Rawalpindi), and the Mansehra–Naran–Jalkhad–Chilas (MNJC) Road. He noted that the MNJC Road, in particular, holds strong tourism potential, making it a commercially viable opportunity for investors.
He added that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia share strong bilateral relations reinforced by the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement (SMDA), which provides a broader framework for cooperation across multiple sectors, including transport and infrastructure development.
During the meeting, the Saudi minister appreciated Pakistan’s development initiatives and expressed willingness to collaborate in technology, road safety, and logistics projects. He also sought Pakistan’s support in the upcoming International Maritime Organization (IMO) elections, to which Pakistan assured its full backing.
Officials said the discussions reflect both countries’ shared commitment to strengthening economic ties and promoting sustainable infrastructure development in the region.
