Islamabad: Overseas workers’ remittances to Pakistan rose sharply to USD 3.59 billion in December 2025, according to data released on Friday by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), reflecting continued strength in external inflows.
The December figure marked a 16.5% increase year-on-year compared to USD 3.1 billion recorded in the same month last year. On a month-on-month basis, remittances were 13% higher than the USD 3.2 billion received in November.
Cumulatively, remittance inflows during the first half of fiscal year 2025–26 reached USD 19.7 billion, registering an 11% increase from USD 17.8 billion received in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.
A country-wise breakdown showed that Saudi Arabia remained the largest source of remittances in December, with overseas Pakistanis sending USD 813 million. This represented a 6% increase year-on-year and an 8% rise compared to November’s inflows from the Kingdom.

Remittances from the United Arab Emirates climbed 15% year-on-year to USD 726 million, up from USD 631 million in December 2024. Inflows from the United Kingdom amounted to USD 560 million, reflecting a 28% annual increase and a 16% rise on a monthly basis.
Overseas Pakistanis in the United States remitted USD 302 million during December. While this was 1% lower than the amount sent in the same month last year, it showed a 9% month-on-month increase. Meanwhile, remittances from European Union countries totalled USD 499 million, posting a strong 39% year-on-year growth.
The sustained growth in remittance inflows continues to support Pakistan’s external account, providing a crucial source of foreign exchange amid ongoing economic stabilisation efforts.
