Karachi: The Sindh Master Plan Authority has launched advanced Geographic Information System (GIS) technology to support urban planning, improve land management and facilitate the development of smart city plans across the province.
Sindh Minister for Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah formally inaugurated the technology during a visit to the authority, where he was given a live demonstration of the system.
The GIS technology will support the preparation of smart city plans and help identify plots belonging to Sindh’s land management institutions. It will also enable planners to develop urban plans using Google imagery and other digital mapping tools.
Speaking on the occasion, Shah said the use of modern technology would improve transparency, efficiency and monitoring of institutional affairs while helping ensure better public service delivery.
The inauguration was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Dr Waseem Shamshad, senior officials of the Sindh Master Plan Authority and Karachi Development Authority (KDA), among others.
