Karachi: The Sindh government has announced a series of incentives to promote electric vehicle (EV) adoption and manufacturing in the province, including tax exemptions and land allocation for the establishment of charging stations. This commitment was highlighted during the inauguration of the first locally produced electric vehicle showroom in Karachi on Sunday.
The event was led by Sindh Minister for Energy Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, who officially opened the ENVEREX Industries EV showroom. Speaking to the media, he reaffirmed the government’s strong support for eco-friendly initiatives and emphasized the province’s readiness to back local manufacturing.

“We appreciate the local production of electric vehicles and will fully support it,” said Shah. “Anyone who invests in eco-friendly industries will be supported at the government level. Tax exemptions will be provided to electric vehicle industries.”
He noted that the cost of running an electric car is just PKR 4 per kilometer, making it a more affordable and sustainable option for the public.
The minister highlighted several steps the Sindh government is taking to facilitate EV adoption:
- Mandatory charging infrastructure: All new buildings constructed in Sindh must now include electric vehicle charging facilities.
- Public charging network: Charging stations will be installed in major cities and along highways, with a station planned every 30 to 40 kilometers to support intercity travel.
- Land for EV infrastructure: Government-owned land will be allocated to develop charging stations across the province.
- Support for local production: Investors are encouraged to manufacture electric vehicles and related components locally, with additional incentives promised to help scale production.

Shah added that these efforts align with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s vision to promote clean, sustainable energy and reduce environmental pollution. Special funds are being allocated for green projects, and the provincial government is working to shift a greater number of vehicles and motorcycles to electric power.
ENVEREX Industries’ CEO provided a detailed briefing on the vehicles available at the showroom and the after-sales services offered. The company also confirmed that home installation of EV charging ports will be available for consumers.
As climate concerns grow and fuel prices remain volatile, the Sindh government’s proactive approach aims to position the province at the forefront of Pakistan’s green mobility transition.
