Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has declared 99 housing societies in the federal capital as illegal and announced strict action against their sponsors and owners.
According to officials, the CDA has requested the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) to provide complete information about the individuals involved in these projects. Steps are also being taken to add their names to the Exit Control List (ECL) to restrict their travel.
The decision was made during a recent meeting chaired by CDA Chairman and Islamabad Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa. The meeting reviewed the status of housing and cooperative societies operating within the CDA and Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) and agreed to pursue legal measures against unauthorized developments.

Randhawa directed officials to maintain comprehensive records of layout plans, no-objection certificates (NOCs), and plot allotments for each society, particularly those issuing more files than the land they possess. He reaffirmed a zero-tolerance policy towards illegal construction and encroachments, emphasizing the need to protect Islamabad’s environment and planned urban layout.
The CDA also announced that action will be taken against suppliers providing construction materials to these illegal projects. The full list of the 99 societies has been published on the CDA’s official website.
