Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has decided to initiate development works in areas surrounding the Lahore Railway Station under a sustainable urban model.
The decision was made in a meeting chaired by LDA Director General Tahir Farooq on Wednesday. Officials from LDA, the Traffic Engineering and Transport Planning Agency (TEPA), and Nespak briefed the participants on proposed designs for development within a three-kilometre radius of the station.
According to the LDA, the sustainable development plan divides the area into different zones, with specific interventions for each. The project will include the construction of walkways, installation of solar-powered lights, underground wiring for internet and utilities, and improvement of stormwater drainage systems. Efforts will also be made to remove encroachments and improve sanitation in busy commercial and transport zones.

The proposed design for redevelopment around Data Darbar, Bhati Gate, and Mohini Road was also presented during the meeting.
Farooq emphasized that the initiative follows the special instructions of the Punjab chief minister and aims to bring long-term improvements to Lahore’s inner-city infrastructure through a sustainable development approach.
