Islamabad: China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Authority (CPECA) Chairman Asim Saleem Bajwa — who is also the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Information and Broadcasting — on Saturday (July 5) revealed that construction work was underway on the USD 230 million Gwadar International Airport project, according to a news source. The SAPM termed the initiative as a ‘harbinger for development’.
Chairman Bajwa further said that the work on launching and completing CPEC projects was being conducted in accordance with the directives issued by Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan. He evealed that the PM had received briefings on the progress of projects launched as part of the CPEC initiative. The chairman also mentioned that PM Khan had issued directives to expedite work to complete these projects and ensure that their dividends reach all Pakistanis.
Bajwa termed the CPEC developments a ‘reflection of Pakistan-China iron brotherhood’ and also a ‘guarantor of the country’s future prosperity’. Just like SAPM Bajwa, the PM said in a meeting held last week that the CPEC was the manifestation of ‘Pakistan-China friendship’, and that the government would complete all projects launched under the initiative ‘at any cost’.
