Islamabad: Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Sohail Ashraf has directed officials to strengthen traffic management at Kashmir Chowk to minimise disruption for commuters during construction of the underpass. The news has been sourced on September 23.
According to the details, the directions were issued during the Chairman’s visit to Kashmir Chowk, where he reviewed the progress of the underpass project as well as the temporary traffic arrangements currently in place.
The Director General Infrastructure briefed the on the project’s progress, ongoing construction activities and expected completion timeline. Chairman Sohail Ashraf instructed the relevant departments to maintain effective traffic arrangements throughout the construction period, with particular focus on managing vehicle movement during peak hours.
Officials also presented a proposed traffic management solution for Kashmir Chowk and Murree Road aimed at addressing existing bottlenecks and improving traffic flow. The CDA Chairman called for coordination among the relevant departments, with emphasis on lane management, road improvements and better connectivity between major routes to reduce the impact of construction activities.
He further directed the Director General Infrastructure, project directors and field officers to conduct regular site inspections and closely monitor the quality and pace of construction.
The Chairman instructed officials to identify and resolve any issues affecting the project promptly and reiterated that the underpass and other ongoing development schemes should be completed within their stipulated timelines while meeting engineering and safety standards. He added that work on underpasses, bridges, roads and other infrastructure projects was being expedited as part of efforts to improve mobility and address traffic-related challenges in Islamabad.
