Rawalpindi: Commissioner Captain (retired) Mohammad Mehmood on Sunday stated that the Rawalpindi Division administration had identified 212 roads for commercial activity for the next 10 years, a news source reported.
He was speaking at a meeting on the commercialisation of the roads. Director Development and Planning Nazia Parveen Sudhan, RMC Chief Officer Ali Abbas Bukhari and other officials concerned were all present at the meeting.
He said that the administrations of the districts in which these roads were located had been asked to designate these roads as ‘commercial’ routes; adding that district planning and design committees were being formed for the purpose. The committees will be headed by the deputy commissioner of each district, while the other members will include representatives of traffic police, public health and engineering, building department, town planners and civil society.
He added that 261 roads had been identified where commercial activity was taking place but they were yet to be declared commercial.
