Speaking during his visit, Bilal Yasin reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing affordable housing. He announced that interest-free loans of up to Rs1.5 million will be issued annually to 100,000 families for home construction. In addition to these loans, the minister revealed that free residential plots will also be allotted this year to qualified, low-income individuals.
The housing initiative is being implemented in collaboration with Akhuwat Foundation, which provides financial and administrative support. During his visit to the Akhuwat office, Bilal Yasin met with applicants and beneficiaries, many of whom described the interest-free loans as an “act of kindness” that enabled them to achieve the dream of home ownership without falling into debt.
To date, over 34,000 families have received interest-free loans under the programme. According to officials, no complaints of corruption have been reported at any level, highlighting the transparency and accountability of the housing push.
Officials from the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) and Akhuwat Foundation were also present during the minister’s visit.
