Lahore: Authorities in Lahore have prepared a comprehensive plan to restore historic buildings along The Mall Lahore to their original condition, in a bid to preserve the city’s architectural heritage and improve the area’s visual appeal.
According to official sources, the initiative will cover 104 buildings located between PMG Chowk and Charing Cross, all identified for their historical significance. Under the plan, restoration and repair work will be carried out at the expense of the respective property owners.
In the first phase, notices have been issued to the owners of 10 severely deteriorated buildings. These notices include photographic evidence highlighting the current condition of the structures. Owners have been directed to begin restoration within seven days, failing which legal action will be initiated.

Officials said the project aims to revive the original British-era architectural character of these buildings while ensuring uniformity in façades across the stretch. The Walled City of Lahore Authority will provide technical assistance to the district administration for the execution of the restoration work.
Prominent buildings identified for restoration include Ghulam Rasool Building, Kesho Ram Building, Shah Din Manzil, Ahmed Mansion, Zaman Plaza, Khadim Center, Ziauddin Building, Kirpa Ram Building, Dhoni Mansion, and Jan Building.
Authorities added that the initiative is part of a broader effort to protect Lahore’s historic identity while enhancing the aesthetic value of one of the city’s most iconic thoroughfares.
