The Punjab Central Business District Development Authority (CBD Punjab) has introduced a 100-year lifespan sewage system at Nawaz Sharif IT City (NSIT City), marking a first-of-its-kind development in Pakistan’s urban infrastructure sector.
According to CBD Punjab, the new sewage network has been designed to be significantly more durable than conventional systems, which typically have a lifespan of around 25 years. The authority said the advanced infrastructure will reduce the need for frequent reconstruction and maintenance, ensuring long-term operational efficiency and uninterrupted services.
The system has been planned to meet the needs of high-density development and future expansion at NSIT City, Pakistan’s first Special Technology Zone Authority (STZA)-approved IT city. Officials said the project aims to support residents, businesses, and technology firms by providing a resilient and sustainable utility framework.

CBD Punjab Chief Executive Officer Imran Amin said the initiative reflects the authority’s commitment to modern, long-term urban planning. He noted that investing in durable infrastructure is essential for building future-ready cities and reducing long-term costs for both the public sector and end users.
The introduction of the century-long sewage system is part of CBD Punjab’s broader strategy to integrate sustainable, globally benchmarked solutions into its urban development projects, with a focus on resilience, efficiency, and environmental responsibility.
