Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Development Working Party (DWP) has approved the construction of 11th Avenue at an estimated cost of PKR 24.5 billion, along with 3 sports arenas in F-8, D-12 and G-11. The news has been sourced from an article on September 25.
According to the details, the DWP approved the PC-I for the 7.5-kilometre 11th Avenue, which will extend from IJP Road to the E-11 interchange. The road will have three lanes on each side and include around 17 bridges and overpasses.
The planned route will pass between I-10 and I-11, G-10 and G-11, and F-10 and F-11 before connecting with the E-11 interchange. The section between E-11 and D-12 has already been completed and is known as Iran Avenue.
The CDA-DWP also approved PC-Is worth around PKR 1 billion for three sports arenas. The F-8 Markaz facility has been allocated PKR 307 million, while PKR 327 million has been approved for the D-12/1 arena and PKR 317 million for the G-11/3 facility.
The proposed arenas will include swimming pools, indoor gyms, futsal courts, cricket cages, padel courts, basketball courts, multi-sports halls and indoor play areas for children. The facilities will also be used for sports coaching.
According to the approved plans, both the 11th Avenue project and the three sports arenas are scheduled for completion within one year of the start of construction.
The foundation stone of 11th Avenue was laid in June 2023, but work on the project did not commence. The latest approval places the project among the CDA’s approved development schemes.
