Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority’s Development Working Party (CDA-DWP) has approved a series of development projects worth over Rs2 billion aimed at improving water conservation, pollution control, and sports facilities in the federal capital.
In its 77th meeting held on Thursday under the chairmanship of CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, the body allocated Rs1.404 billion for the construction of 20 underground water tanks at various locations to prevent rainwater wastage. Ten tanks will be built in the first phase, followed by ten more in the second.
According to officials, these tanks will store clean water from natural streams, while expertise from Lahore’s Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) will be utilized, as similar facilities there have improved water conservation.
