Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Wednesday reviewed the proposed master plan for establishing a Special Technology Zone in Islamabad, aimed at boosting the country’s tech sector and attracting both local and international firms.
The meeting, chaired by CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa at the CDA Headquarters, was attended by Executive Director of the Special Technology Zones Authority (STZA) Aamir Saleemi and other officials.
Officials briefed the meeting that 28 Special Technology Zones have so far been notified across Pakistan, while 141 acres of land have been earmarked for the Islamabad project. The planned zone will feature a technology park, a high-tech production zone, and dedicated commercial and residential areas.

It was further informed that national and international technology companies and entrepreneurs will be encouraged to establish offices and production facilities in the zone. Special tax and duty concessions, along with other facilities, will be offered to high-tech firms to make the zone competitive.
The CDA and STZA also agreed to form a joint working group to oversee progress and ensure smooth coordination on the project.
Chairman Randhawa said the initiative would play a pivotal role in turning Islamabad into a technology hub while creating significant employment opportunities in the sector.
