Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has formed dedicated working groups to accelerate development in the city’s new sectors and oversee the up-gradation of older residential areas.
The decision was announced following a review meeting chaired by CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, at the Authority’s headquarters on Friday. Officials briefed the chairman on ongoing projects across multiple sectors, including C-14, C-15, E-12, and I-12.
Dr. Randhawa instructed officers to expedite work in Sector C-14, emphasizing steady progress in road infrastructure, horticulture, internal electrification, and early completion of street lighting, drainage, sewerage, and water supply systems. Electricity supply works were also directed to be completed “as soon as possible.”

In Sector C-15, officials reported that sub-base work had been completed on 17 roads, with remaining development contracts awarded. All road infrastructure in the sector is expected to be completed by March next year. Meanwhile, progress continues steadily in sub-sectors 2 and 3 of E-12, with tendering for sub-sector 4 nearing completion. TST (road surfacing) work in Sector I-12 is scheduled to finish this month.
To ensure sustained progress, the chairman directed sector development officers to maintain regular field presence and ensure the installation of permanent street lighting, water, and sewerage systems across all active sites. He also emphasized the early handover of possession to allottees in newly developed sectors, noting that residential expansion is a key part of Islamabad’s broader urban development plan.
The newly formed working groups will also prepare detailed plans for infrastructure rehabilitation, landscaping, and the provision of modern amenities in older sectors, aiming to restore and enhance Islamabad’s urban environment.
