Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced a city-wide survey of fire safety and emergency response measures for all residential and commercial buildings in Islamabad. The move comes in the wake of a recent gas cylinder blast, highlighting the importance of proactive safety measures.
CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa directed that the inspection of all public and private properties be completed within one month. Building owners have been notified and are required to develop emergency exit and fire safety plans, while public buildings will prepare their plans in consultation with the CDA.

The Building Control Directorate has formed dedicated teams to carry out inspections of sensitive and high-risk buildings first, ensuring compliance with safety standards. The initiative will cover every residential and commercial property across the capital to prevent incidents related to fire or gas leaks and strengthen emergency preparedness.
CDA officials also emphasized the importance of emergency exits, fire detection systems, and safety protocols, urging property owners to take immediate action to ensure the well-being of residents and visitors.
The CDA said the survey is part of a broader effort to enhance urban safety and resilience, demonstrating the authority’s commitment to modern, science-based management of Islamabad’s environment.
