Islamabad: Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, on Sunday visited the historic Saidpur Model Village to inspect the ongoing beautification and upgradation work, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to transforming Islamabad into a modern, tourist-friendly capital.
Accompanied by Member Environment Esfandyar Baloch and other senior officials, Randhawa reviewed the project’s progress and expressed satisfaction over the enhancements being carried out at the centuries-old cultural site. Randhawa stated that the CDA aims to develop Saidpur Village as a “state-of-the-art model village that meets international standards,” and emphasized the need to complete the project at the earliest. He directed that all available resources be deployed to accelerate the work, stressing that the initiative is a key part of the broader vision to equip Islamabad with world-class tourist and recreational facilities.
In addition to the Saidpur visit, Randhawa also received a briefing on a recent anti-encroachment operation carried out by the CDA in the Margalla Hills National Park. The enforcement action resulted in the demolition of 13 illegal structures and the recovery of approximately 23 kanals of encroached government land. The reclaimed land has been handed over to the Environment Wing for ecological restoration and reintegration into the protected national park area.
Randhawa reiterated a strict zero-tolerance policy towards encroachments and environmental violations, stating, “No encroachments or violations will be tolerated in the Margalla Hills or anywhere else in Islamabad. We are fully committed to preserving the city’s natural heritage and scenic beauty.”
