Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has appointed a consultant to evaluate the status of Islamabad’s illegal and unplanned colonies, with the aim of determining whether they should be regularised or demolished, according to 24NewsHD.
The regularisation process will initially focus on commercial properties located in older settlements and rural areas. The consultant will compile comprehensive data on Islamabad’s rural regions, older colonies, and unplanned developments, which will serve as the basis for recommendations regarding their future.

In addition to assessing individual colonies, the consultant will suggest measures to expand CDA’s jurisdiction to cover Islamabad’s rural areas, enhancing urban planning and governance in the capital.
Officials have noted that this evaluation could significantly impact property owners and residents living in unplanned settlements, as the CDA moves toward a more structured and enforceable urban planning framework.
