Faisalabad: To help Faisalabad become compatible with the investment prospects the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) offers, Punjab Highways Department has sent two road projects to the Government of Punjab to be included in the Annual Development Program, a news source reported.
The proposed projects are estimated to cost PKR 2.1 billion. As per the details, the provincial Highway Department proposed construction of Chenab Chowk on Jhang Road connecting Kotwali Road, and Pansera’s Western Wing Bypass linking Faisalabad Road and Sargodha Road. The two projects are estimated to cost PKR 50 million, and 1.6 billion, respectively.
Sources within the Highways Department say that the project will either be included in the annual development program for this year, or be sanctioned by the Punjab Chief Minister under his discretionary power next year.
Previously, the provincial government had asked the concerned departments to share proposals for projects required to make Faisalabad an investor-friendly metropolitan area. The city has earned a special status due to presence of special economy zones planned under CPEC.
