Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has directed that the Blue Area Parking Plaza be made fully operational within one month, as part of its wider push to upgrade urban infrastructure and resolve traffic congestion in the capital.
The directive was issued during a high-level meeting held at CDA Headquarters, chaired by Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa. Senior officials including CDA Member Administration, Member Estate, Member Engineering, Member Finance, Member Planning, and Deputy Commissioner Islamabad were present.

During the meeting, officials reviewed the progress of major ongoing development projects in Islamabad. These included sector development in E-12, C-14, C-15, C-16, and I-12, infrastructure works at Shaheen Chowk and Kashmir Chowk, remodeling of Faizabad Interchange, and the transformation of CDA Nursery into the ‘Gardenia Hub.’ Other updates included progress on the construction of the Police Academy and parking facilities for employees of the Pak Secretariat.
The Chairman emphasized that enhancing residential and civic facilities remains a top priority for the CDA. He highlighted ongoing efforts to plant environment-friendly trees, upgrade major roads, and construct underpasses to address traffic challenges in the city.
Regarding the Blue Area Parking Plaza, it was reported that the remaining structural work, including lift installation, has been completed, with final tasks such as lighting and safety systems nearing completion. Chairman Randhawa instructed that all pending electrical, mechanical, and fire safety installations be finalized immediately to ensure the facility becomes fully functional within the next 30 days.

In addition, a special committee has been formed comprising representatives from multiple departments including Engineering, Environment, Road Marketing, Sanitation, Building Control, Finance, Estate Management, Enforcement, DMA, and the Islamabad Police. This committee will survey five major roads in Islamabad to assess road upgrades, lighting improvements, landscaping, and other development needs, ensuring timely execution.
The meeting reaffirmed the CDA’s commitment to fast-tracking Islamabad’s development and improving service delivery for citizens through coordinated and accountable project management.
