Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is planning three major road infrastructure projects in Islamabad, including the upgradation of the service road along the Islamabad Expressway, construction of an underpass at Kashmir Chowk, and development of 11th Avenue.
Officials said the authority has started appointing consultants to prepare the design and Planning Commission Form-I (PC-I) for the projects before moving to the tendering stage. Bids for consultants for the Expressway service road and Kashmir Chowk underpass will be received on March 5, while bids for the 11th Avenue consultancy are scheduled for February 9.
According to a CDA official, consultants will be required to complete their work within six to eight weeks, after which the authority will invite financial bids for construction.

The planned upgrade of the Service Road (East) along the Islamabad Expressway will cover a stretch of about 9 kilometres from Faizabad to Gulberg Greens. The road is currently in poor condition and requires rehabilitation.
Meanwhile, the proposed Kashmir Chowk underpass — near Islamabad Club — is aimed at easing traffic congestion in the area. The 11th Avenue project will involve the construction of a major road between sectors G-11 and G-12.
The projects were reviewed during a meeting at CDA headquarters chaired by CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa. He directed officials to ensure timely completion of planning work and warned that delays in project implementation would not be tolerated.
The meeting also reviewed plans to widen Ataturk Avenue and discussed progress on the extension of Margalla Avenue from N-5 to the M-1 Motorway within Islamabad Capital Territory limits.
CDA officials said the initiatives are part of ongoing efforts to improve Islamabad’s road infrastructure and traffic management.
