Faisalabad: The Faisalabad Industrial Estate Development and Management Company’s (FIEDMC) special economic zones (SEZs) located near the Faisalabad-Multan Motorway (M-4) are to be connected with the Faisalabad-Pindi Bhatian Motorway (M-3) through a ‘Super Expressway’ — a news source reported on July 17. This highway stretch will be constructed by the Frontier Works Organization (FWO).
Providing further details of the project, FIEDMC Chairman Mian Kashif Ashfaq stated that it would be a 4-lane, 80-kilometre-long road and that it is expected to cost PKR 10 billion. Additionally, the venture will be developed on a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) basis.
Furthermore, the chairman revealed that the double carriageway road would connect the Sahianwala Interchange with the Jaranwala Interchange. He expected that this would benefit all the special economic zones established in the area, and that the industries would flourish as a result. Moreover, he hoped that it would also benefit the nearly 300,000 locals living in the area.
