Islamabad: France has announced a grant of €500,000 to support communities affected by this year’s floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with the assistance set to benefit 3,000 households—around 21,000 people—in Buner and Swat districts.
At a ceremony hosted at his residence on Tuesday, French Ambassador Nicolas Galey said the aid represents “a concrete solidarity from the French people with Pakistan,” noting that the floods have devastated lives, infrastructure, and livelihoods across the country.
The assistance will be channeled through a project led by ACTED, a French NGO, which will provide employment opportunities, shelter and water system rehabilitation, hygiene kits, and livelihood support to the affected families. Ambassador Galey praised ACTED’s quick response and stressed that the project will be carried out in full coordination with local authorities to ensure transparency.

Recalling France’s support during the 2022 floods, the envoy said this year’s devastation once again underscores the urgent need for international cooperation on climate resilience. “Our commitment remains constant—whether in international fora to advance the global fight against climate change, or through direct support to the Pakistani people in times of crisis,” he said.
He also conveyed his deepest sympathies to the victims, adding that the French government will continue to stand with Pakistan in addressing the challenges posed by climate change.
