Lahore: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has prepared a plan to commercialize six major roads across the city to support expanding urban and commercial activity.
A public hearing on the proposal was held at the LDA Sports Complex in Johar Town, where Chief Town Planner-I Asadul Zaman, Chief Town Planner-II Azhar Ali, senior planners from NESPAK and other officials briefed citizens on the commercialisation initiative and its environmental impact.
According to LDA officials, the decision has been taken in view of Lahore’s growing commercial needs and the increasing demand for formally designated business corridors. The roads identified for commercialization include:
- Sabzazar Liaquat Chowk to Multan Road
- College Road from Ghazi Chowk to UET Roundabout
- Defence Road from Bhubtian Chowk to Kahna
- GT Road from Quaid-i-Azam Interchange to BRB Canal
- LOS Road from Ferozepur Road to Multan Road
- Barki Road from Ring Road to BRB Canal
During the hearing, LDA officers responded to public queries and assured that citizen recommendations would be reviewed and incorporated where feasible.
