Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced that allotment letters for the Media Enclave in the New Peshawar Valley Housing Scheme will be handed over to journalists in November this year.
The decision was made during a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah on Tuesday. Senior officials, including Secretary Information and Public Relations Dr. Muhammad Bakhtiar Khan, Press Registrar Ansar Khilji, Director General Housing Imran Wazir, and President of the Peshawar Press Club M. Riaz, attended the session along with prominent journalists.
The Chief Secretary directed all departments concerned to complete groundwork and necessary formalities by October, terming the enclave a long-standing demand of the journalist community and a key initiative of the provincial government. He emphasized timely delivery while reaffirming the government’s commitment to the welfare of media professionals.

He also announced that, on the recommendation of the Peshawar Press Club, similar housing schemes would be identified in other districts to provide journalists with secure and planned residential facilities across the province.
Highlighting the government’s vision for sustainable urban growth, Shahab Ali Shah said new housing schemes would be developed only on barren land, with allottees required to plant trees according to plot size. No schemes, he stressed, would be allowed in green or cultivated areas.
President Peshawar Press Club M. Riaz lauded the Chief Secretary’s efforts, saying the project had long seemed impossible but had now become a reality due to his personal commitment.
Earlier, DG Housing Imran Wazir gave a detailed presentation on the New Peshawar Valley Housing Scheme, covering connectivity, access points, green belts, and planned facilities.
