Lahore: Acting on directives from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the Lahore Police and Lahore Development Authority (LDA) have initiated plans to upgrade the city’s major entry and exit points. The initiative aims to improve infrastructure, enhance security, and give a more welcoming impression to those entering the provincial capital.
In the first phase of the project, six key gateways — including Babu Sabu, Saggian, and Ravi Bridge — will undergo structural improvements and beautification, designed to reflect the standard set by the model checkpoint at Thokar Niaz Baig. These improvements will include revamped police checkposts, landscaped surroundings, and smoother traffic flow systems.

Sources familiar with the plan stated that joint teams from the police and LDA will carry out the work. The police department has also confirmed that newly designed, comfortable duty rooms for officers will be constructed at these sites. Special measures will be implemented to ensure the proper screening of female commuters, aligning with CM Punjab’s directives for more secure and inclusive public facilities.
Currently, Lahore has 13 official entry and exit points, and the remaining locations will be upgraded in later phases of the initiative. The move is seen as part of the broader vision to modernize Lahore’s infrastructure and improve the overall perception and safety of the city’s transport network.
