Lahore: The Punjab government has launched an android application, titled ‘E-Pay’, to facilitate tax payments between business-to-government and public-to-government, a news source reported. As per officials, the application can be downloaded through Google’s Play Store service.
The application will help assist the public in their tax payment efforts; including property tax, motor vehicle registration and transfer fee, professional tax, e-stamping fee, fard fee, sales tax on services, business registration fee, cotton fee infrastructural development cess, and mutation fee.
In July, Punjab Finance Minister Makhdoom Hashim Jawan Bakht had announced the government’s decision to collaborate with the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) for application development. The app allows citizens to make their tax payments through internet/mobile banking service, ATM and over-the-counter banking transactions.
The app follow an integrated and centralized system that is backed by the Punjab government’s mobile applications that include the scheduled banks, State Bank of Pakistan and 1-Link for interconnectivity. E-Pay saves citizens from standing in queues and waiting for hours to pay their taxes. At the same time, it closes rooms for bribery and corruption seen in the manual mode of payment.
