Islamabad: Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan on Sunday announced plans to add more rest areas along the Murree Expressway and construct a modern roundabout at Lower Topa to improve travel convenience and traffic flow.
During a visit to the expressway, the minister inspected various sections, including the newly constructed rest areas and mosques, and reviewed the traffic situation on the Islamabad-Murree Dual Carriageway (IMDC), particularly at Lower Topa. He directed the National Highway Authority (NHA) to ensure modern designs for the roundabout and maintain international-standard facilities in all new developments.

Abdul Aleem Khan said the Murree Expressway has been upgraded to be safer, more comfortable, and visually appealing than before. He emphasized that rest areas must provide clean drinking water, proper cleanliness, and separate prayer arrangements for women.
The minister also highlighted the importance of continuous quality follow-up and commended the cooperation of local residents in improving the expressway. Travelers along the route expressed appreciation for the upgrades, interacting with the minister during his visit.
The NHA has been instructed to adopt high-quality designs and facilities to enhance the experience for tourists and commuters using the Murree Expressway.
