Karachi: Roshan Digital Accounts have received inflows of PKR 400 million during the past four months, a news source reported. The high amount of inflows is being hailed as a sign of growing confidence in the government’s initiative.
The Roshan Digital Accounts initiative aims to attract inflows on the back of high promised returns on deposit as against the ones provided by banks in developed economies.
So far, the total number of Roshan Digital Accounts has reached 80,000. Although the State Bank of Pakistan has not shared the country-wise breakdown of these accountholders, experts believe that the majority of accountholders are residing in the Gulf region.
These accounts, launched only for non-resident Pakistanis, enable them to remotely open bank accounts in Pakistan through online digital portals.
The government had also launched the Naya Pakistan Savings Certificate along with the Roshan Digital accounts which offer high returns.
